Type Locality: "...the forests of Pugar...Eastern portion of Java." [Indonesia].

Vernacular Names: Whiskered Flying Squirrel.

Synonyms: Petinomys borneoensis (Thomas 1908); Petinomys malaccanus (Thomas 1908) .

Distribution: Malaya to Sumatra, Java, and Borneo.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Perhaps conspecific with sagitta; see comment therein, and Medway (1977:102).
