Vernacular Names: Relict Ground Squirrel.

Distribution: Tien Shan Mtns in Kyrgyzstan and SE Kazakhstan.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Subgenus Spermophilus (Gromov et al., 1965:198) .
