Type Locality: Peru, Piura Dept., Omatope.

Vernacular Names: Guayaquil Squirrel.

Synonyms: Sciurus (Guerlinguetus) fraseri (Gray 1867); Sciurus (Guerlinguetus) guayanus Thomas 1900; Sciurus (Guerlinguetus) nebouxii I. Geoffroy St. Hilaire 1855; Sciurus (Guerlinguetus) zarumae J. A. Allen 1914 .

Distribution: Extreme SW Peru and SW Ecuador in the area surrounding the Gulf of Guayaquil.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
