Diagnosis. Mesoscutum, mesoscutellum, and petiole finely reticulate. F2 shorter than F3.

Orasema pisi is the only small-bodied species in this group with simple reticulate mesoscutal and petiolar sculpture. It differs from other reticulate species in its very short F2 (Fig. 165).

Description. Female. Length 2.2 mm.

Color: Head and mesosoma dark green with reddish to yellowish luster. Pedicel brown; anellus brown; flagellum brown. Coxae dark green to brown; fore femur mostly brown, yellow in apical third; mid femur mostly brown, tips pale; hind femur mostly yellow, with large yellowish-brown area subbasally. Fore wing hyaline; venation yellowish. Petiole dark green; gaster brown with purple luster.

Head: Head width:head height 1.3; face reticulate; longitudinal groove between eye and torulus indicated by a small area of coarse sculpture; eyes bare, inter-ocular distance:eye height 1.4; malar space:eye height 0.5; supraclypeal area slightly broader than long, mostly weakly sculptured, with smooth area ventromedially; clypeus weakly sculptured; Flagellum length:head height 1.0; F2 1.3× as long as broad, 0.7× as long as F3; following funiculars progressively shorter and broader.

Mesosoma: Mesosoma length:height 1.3. Mesoscutal midlobe reticulate, with minute setae; lateral lobe reticulate. Axilla reticulate; mesoscutellar disc reticulate; frenal line reticulate; frenum reticulate; axillular groove anteriorly narrow, broad and foveate posteriorly; axillula reticulate with a few longitudinal carinae ventrally. Propodeum without median carina; propodeal disc medially areolate-reticulate; callus reticulate, with a few small setae. Mesepisternum reticulate laterally and ventrally, broadly rounded anterior to mid coxa. Upper mesepimeron reticulate dorsally, smooth ventrally; lower mesepimeron reticulate; transepimeral sulcus distinct. Metepisternum laterally reticulate. Hind coxa 2.0× as long as broad; hind femur 5.2× as long as broad. Fore wing 2.4× as long as broad, 2.4× as long as mesothorax; stigma with 4 sensilla separated into pairs. Hind wing costal cell with a broad bare area.

Metasoma: Petiole 1.6× as long as broad, 0.7× as long as hind coxa, reticulate to areolate-reticulate, anterior carina weak. Antecostal sulcus crossed by minute carinae; acrosternite posteriorly angulate.

Male. Unknown.

Distribution. Argentina (Salta).

Material examined. Holotype: ARGENTINA: Salta: Cabeza de Buey, RN 34, 781m, 24°47'38"S, 65°01'56"W, 15.iii.2007, J.&J. Heraty & J. Torréns, chaco [UCRCENT 00161485, D2490], deposited in IMLA.

Etymology. The Quechua word for “small,” referring to the body size.
