Athalia excisa Koch, 2006

Athalia excisa Koch, 2006: 305 . Locus typicus: Brit[ish] East Afrika [Kenya], Kikuyu. Holotype: ♀. Brit. East Afrika, Kikuyu [01°15'S 036°40'E], 01.V.1902, Felix Thomas S.V. (MFN).

Ethiopian material. Chancho, 09°20'N 038°44'E, 07.X.2010, on Brassicaceae, P3422_a (1 ♀), leg. J.-L. Boevé (RBINS). This is the first record of A. excisa for Ethiopia.

Distribution. Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania.

Host plant. Brassicaceae (Koch 2006; Opitz et al. 2012).

Remarks. The females of A. excisa are clearly characterized by the deep excised hypopygium (Fig. 3 A). The morphological differences to A. vollenhoveni are discussed under this species.
