Athalia vollenhoveni var. infumata Mocsáry, 1909: 13 . Locus typicus: Tanzania, Kibosho. Lectotype designated by Koch (2006: 312): ♀. Kibosho, Katona (HNHM).
Athalia marginipennis Enderlein, 1920: 354 sensu Benson, 1962: 379 (misidentification).
Ethiopian material. Anderatscha [07°12'N 036°16'E], 05.IV.1901 (1 ♀), leg. O. Neumann (MFN).
Distribution. Burundi, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe.
Host plant. Brassica rapa L., B. oleracea L. ( Brassicaceae) (Benson 1962: 378) according to the examined material: collected on cruciferous crop ( Brassicaceae) from Musasa (Mosso), 21.III.1956, J. Decelle (2 ♂, 3 ♀); reared on Brassica from Kivu: Uvira, 05.I.1960, G. Marlier (1 ♂, 3 ♀); Raphanus from Amani, 12.IX.1904, Vosseler (1 ♀); in rosettes of young Lobelia (Lobeliaceae) from Kivu: Itobwe, I.1960, N. Leleup (1 ♂), probably only for pollen feeding.
Remarks. Athalia sjoestedti belongs to the A. vollenhoveni species group (Koch 2006).
