STENINAE
crassipes Bernhauer 1912b: 169 –170 ( Stenus)
Syntype MLP 120. “ ARGENTINA, Prov. Buenos Aires; H. Richter” / “Cotypus” printed on green label / “Bernhauer determ.” / “ crassipes Brh. ” handwritten by Bernhauer / “2574”.
Remarks. Puthz (1974) listed the holotype, two paratypes and one cotype of S. crassipes . However, in his description Bernhauer (1912b) did not use any of these words, and all types of S. crassipes should be considered syntypes.
metallescens Bernhauer 1911: 404 (Stenus)
Paralectotypes (2) MLP 121/1-2. “ ARGENTINA, Prov. Buenos Aires; H. Richter” / “Cotypus” printed on green label / “Bernhauer determ.” / “2011” / “ Stenus metallescens Bernh.; 2011” handwritten by Bruch on white label with red frame.
Paralectotype MLP 121/3. “ ARGENTINA, Prov. Buenos Aires; H. Richter” / “Cotypus” printed on green label / “Bernhauer determ.” / “2011”.
Remarks. Puthz (1974) listed the single type of S. metallescens from Bernhauer collection (Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago) as the holotype. However, in the original description Bernhauer (1911) did not specify how many specimens were included in the type series. According to Article 74.6 (ICZN 1999), Puthz (1974) designated the lectotype of S. metallescens by inference of “ holotype ”. Therefore, the types of S. metallescens deposited in Museo de La Plata are in fact paralectotypes.
