(handwritten) | LECTO-TYPE (circular dark-blue ringed, typeset) | LECTOTYPE Lepidiota clypealis Moser selected by E.B. Britton det. 1964 (handwritten and typeset) | my lectotype label; in ZMB .
Paralectotype female (Fig. 15): Queensland teste coll. Bates (handwritten) | in coll Oberthür ♀ disser Art. (handwritten) | fissa type Brsk. (handwritten) | Coll. Brenske (black bordered, typeset) | Lepidiota clypealis Type ♀ Mos. (handwritten) | my paralectotype label; in ZMB.
Moser (1913) saw one male from Prell’s collection labelled “Coll. French, Victoria ” and one female from Bates’ collection labelled “ Queensland ”. Both specimens are in ZMB. Britton (1978) designated the male the lectotype and labelled it as such. He designated the female as a paralectotype but did not label it; I have added my paralectotype label. Both designations were accepted by Houston & Weir (1992). “ Victoria ” refers to the location of French’s collection, not the type locality that presumably was near Rockhampton in coastal central Queensland where other specimens of the species have been collected (Britton 1978). The Brenske type label on the paralectotype has no validity.
