DISTRIBUTION: Persian Gulf to Java, China, and Japan.

COMMENT: Includes sunameri and asiaeorientalis; see Rice, 1977:10. Reviewed by Pilleri and Gihr, 1975, Mammalia, 39:657: 673; Pilleri and Gihr, 1972, Invest. Cetacea, 4: 107-162, and Pilleri and Gihr, 1980, Invest. Cetacea, 11:33-36, who considered sunameri and asiaeorientalis distinct species.
