Genus Libethra Stål, 1875: 20
See Brock et al. (2023) for a complete reference list
This large genus occurring from Mexico to South America now contains 36 species. Libethra species often show distinct degrees of ornamentations on its body (Conle et al. 2011). Libethra venezuelica was described in the same work as Ocnophila inaequalis, but in previous pages. Ocnophila inaequalis has its type lost and is described from the same locality as Libethra venezuelica and according to its description it corresponds to a more ornamented individual of the latter, so is here synonymized under it. Characteristics contained by the transferred species that allowed generic assignment are the following: somewhat small head; thick legs; short and robust cerci; robust abdomen; similar morphology of teminalia, especially tergum X of the male with lateral smooth round swellings.
