Current status.

Synonym of Z. ephialtes athamanthae (Esper, 1789).

Remarks.

Reiss (1932b) in Holik (1932) proposed this name as a subspecies of Z. ephialtes (Linnaeus, 1767). The name was subsequently synonymized with Z. ephialtes athamanthae (Esper, 1789) (Hofmann and Tremewan 1996).
