Zoogeographic element. Euro-Caucasian (listed as “subpontic element in Szymczakowski 1959).

Distribution. From the Caucasus in the east to Southern (northern Italy and southern France) and Central Europe.

Distribution in Romania. Epigeal records. Bucegi Mt. (LL82), (Ieniştea 1941, 1956); Sibiu (KL77), Sighişoara (LM21), Bazna (KM81), Braşov (LL85) (all: Petri 1912, 1926); Tocarnia (Maramureş) (LN08) (Niţu 2008); Comana (MJ39) (Montandon 1906, 1908). Hypogeal records. Cheile Caraşului (MSS) (ER60), Comarnic (karst) (ER70), Platoul Cârnealä (EQ79) (21.V.2006, RB leg., ISER) (Fig. 3).

Ecological status. Trogloxene.
