Type locality.

“… in campis montosis Sincura provinciae Bahiae".

Distribution.

Caatinga endemic species. It is registered in the states of Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, and Sergipe. It is widespread in the Caatinga and with annual mean temperature 20 to 28°C along all ecoregions (Table 1; Appendix S3). Distributed in low to high elevation areas (38-1,683 m a.s.l.), with annual mean temperature 17 to 28°C, and average annual rainfall between 429 and 1,417 mm.

Ecological notes.

Terrestrial and diurnal. It has a saxicolous habit and it is distributed in the rocky habitats in open areas of the Caatinga. Diet based mainly on arthropods, being Isoptera, Formicidae, Hemiptera, insect larvae, and plant material the most representative items (Vanzolini et al. 1980; Ribeiro and Freire 2011; Gomes et al. 2015), acting in pollination and seed dispersal (Gomes et al. 2014; Ribeiro et al. 2008 a). Oviparous, the female usually lays 1-3 eggs at a time (Vitt 1992; Ribeiro et al. 2012).
