Acrotrichis impressa sp. n.

Habitus Fig. 19A. Length 1.0 mm. Colour dark brown, antennae and legs yellowish brown. Antennomeres 3–11 0.42 mm long Fig. 19 C. Width across eyes 0.37 mm. Pronotum 0.68 mm wide, 0.33 mm long, sides moderately curved Fig. 19 B. Elytra 0.58 mm long, 0.66 mm wide, posteriorly narrowed. Mesoventral collar slopes moderately at shoulders and with a shallow median excision Fig. 19 I. Posterior margin of metaventrite between metacoxae with two large lateral points Fig. 19 J, metacoxal plates Fig. 19 J. Pygidium without an apical point.
Male: ventrite six Fig. 19 G; ventrite seven Fig. 19 F; aedeagus restricted before the tip Fig. 19 E.
Female: spermatheca Fig. 19 D.
Etymology. This epithet refers to the insect’s large size.
Remarks. The wide pronotum and short tapering elytra will distinguish this species from all but subafricana from which it may be separated by the characters of the genitalia and the shorter and less setiferous rows 2 and 3 of the mentum.
Type data. Holotype: ♂, Andasibe N.P., Circuit Indri 2, sifting, 20.xi.2010, S. Rahanitriniainia (BMNH). Paratypes: 2♂ 1♀, same data as holotype. 1♂, Ambohitantely Spec. Res., ABT/ Nov/2011/11, sifting forest litter, Winkler app. extr., S.18˚10’52.6” E.47˚17’22.5”, 1497 m, 18.xi.2011, L.S.Rhanitriniaina (BMNH).
