Acrotrichis bibula sp. n.

Habitus Fig. 7A. Length 0.82 mm. Colour brownish yellow, antennae and legs paler yellow. Antennomeres 3–11 0.32 mm long Fig. 7 C. Mentum and submentum chaetotaxy Fig. 7 J. Breadth across eyes 0.30 mm. Pronotum 0.48 mm wide, 0.27 mm long, sides not sinuate before posterior angles Fig. 7 B. Elytra 0.45 mm long, 0.47 mm wide, posteriorly narrowed and with a distinct epipleural carina Fig. 7 K. Mesoventral collar broadest medially where the raised anterior margin extends backwards as a narrow parallel sided ridge Fig. 7 H; lateral margins with a concave sinuation behind the collar Fig. 7 I. Posterior margin of metaventrum and metacoxal plates Fig. 7 G.

Male: ventrite six with 4–6 spines Fig. 7 F; aedeagus Fig. 7 E.

Female: spermatheca Fig. 7 D.

Etymology. Johnson ms name.

Remarks. This species is immediately identifiable from all other species except malitiosa by the presence of the medial ridge on the mesoventral collar. From malitiosa it may be separated by the form of the spermatheca. I have examined the types of Johnson’s ms betsimaraka and believe them to be this species.
