Remarks.
This taxon is endemic to eastern Kazakhstan and is known to occur only in one locality near the city of Sarkan in the foothills of the Dzungarian Alatau (Toropov and Milko 2013). This species includes four subspecies: D. a. abakumovi Thomson, 1865, D. a. laterale Jakovlev, 1895, D. a. lepsyense Danilevsky, 2004 and D. a. sarkandicum, which are represented only by small populations that occur in a limited area in the northern part of the Dzungarian Alatau in eastern Kazakhstan (Danilevsky 2004). The biology of the species is poorly known. The beetles occur at altitudes of approx. 800-1300 m a.s.l. where they feed on various species of Poaceae (Toropov and Milko 2013).
