S. \ Otira, Wakefield.” [written at base of card in Sharp’s hand], “Sharp Coll. \ 1905-313.” Syntype (NHM): cardmounted, genitalia mounted on glass slide pinned together with the specimen, “ Mesocyphon diver- \ gens, Ind. typ. \D. S. \ West coast. Wakefield.” [written at base of card in Sharp’s hand], “Mesocy- \ phon \ divergens \ ♂ ” [handwritten on genitalia slide], “Sharp Coll. \ 1905-313.”, “ M. divergens ” [handwritten]. Remarks. The species was collected by Wakefield in Otira pass and on the west coast of the South Island (Sharp 1878).
